4 Signs That Indicate Your Foundation Needs Repaired

Your home is going to need repairs from time to time, and your foundation is a major part of your home that you need to pay attention to and make repairs as necessary, as this is a very important part of your home. If your foundation needs repairing at all, there may be signs pointing to a potential issue. If you aren't sure of the signs of a foundation issue in your home, read on for some signs you should be aware of.

1. Your Doors And Windows Don't Move Easily

If you have issues opening and closing your doors and windows, it may not be their hinges or a greasing issue, it may be that your foundation has shifted or is sinking. If this is the case, it can cause issues with your doors and windows not being able to move easily, as they are not square any longer, and your home isn't square any longer either. Your home's foundation will need to be lifted and leveled again, which can be very costly and a major repair to your home.

2. You Have Cracks In Your Walls

If all of a sudden you have cracks specifically in the walls of your home, not in the ceilings, it may point to a foundation problem. If your foundation has shifted too much, it can cause your home to lean or sag in areas, which can move your walls and cause cracks in the drywall. No amount of spackle will fix this problem, a foundation repair is going to be needed instead.

3. Your Floors Are No Longer Level

If you notice that you are walking down a slope when you walk across your home, or you feel like you're walking up a slope, it means your floors are no longer level in your home. A foundation repair is going to be necessary, as it has moved and begun to sag or sink.

4. Your Ceilings Are Sagging

Your ceilings may also begin to show wear in the way of sagging. If you notice sagging of your ceilings, it means that your foundation shifted and even your ceilings are no longer square. If you live in a two-story home, your upper level floors are more than likely sloped as well.

If you have any of these signs, it's time to have your foundation inspected and repaired by a professional repair company. Your home may need extensive work and you need a professional to ensure the work is done correctly. Read more here.
